I remember talking to my sister in law about how gross and how unlucky our parents were that they had to use cloth nappies and how we would never be able to do that, that it's just wrong!
but a few weeks after having my little one I started to worry about the chemicals in everything and how it would be effecting her beautiful skin.
I started with body wash and made sure to try and find organic and with the least amount of chemicals. hard task but achievable.
but this still this wasn't enough, I had a c-section so I had a pad over my scar to protect it.
pads for my cycle and then disposable nappies, nappy wipes and not to mention the breast pads !! soooo much waste ! I was mortified !
I started reaching reusable breast pads and thats how I found the beautiful world of cloth nappies !!!
I ended up buying new socks to put over my scar so that solved one problem.
My little one was about 2 months when I finally got my hands on some cloth nappies i started with pea pods they are $19.95 for the one size fits most.
they have a bra strap like system in the legs of the nappies so you can adjust it to fit the baby, I just loved them.
the only down side was she had tiny legs and they seem to leak a lot and didn't start fitting her correctly until about 6months.
pea pods
I was loving cloth it was saving me money but the pea pods just didn't cut it for the first few months so i found some new born ones that i absolutely loved but i only had a few as they are expensive but they fitted so perfect. If I was to have another bay I would get these again.
Finally I caved and got the nappies I really wanted, I was committed by now so I could justify the price.
Cushie tushie have a sale around the baby expo time and I managed to get myself a full time mixed pack with lots of extras to test out as well.
these are my absolute favourites and an absolute bargain ! I especially love their tadpole range as I find them the easiest nappies to use and they fit my bub perfectly.

after this addiction to cloth nappies I also changed to reusable wipes, as my little one started to get a rash from the brought wipes that are full of harsh chemicals.
I just have them in the draw and dip them in a little water. I change the water each day.
this way I know my babies skin is far far away from any chemicals, now she only gets a rash when she is teething.
Cloth wipes
This has been my biggest achievement in helping doing my part in this world, I have saved loads of nappies entering land fill, no nasty chemicals on bubs skin and not to mention it takes 10L of water just to make one nappy ! yikes!!!
I found having at least 30 Nappies is a good size to wash every second day and if you need any help with wash routines Cloth nappies down under are amazing at helping with any nappie situation !
